About the Alabama DMV
DMV offices in Alabama issue vehicle titles, deeds, registration and ensure that all vehicles registered in the state carry liability insurance as required by the Compulsory Liability Insurance Act.
We can come to the DMV office to register new or replacement plates, apply for personalized plates, look up vehicle registrations and inspections, or apply for a salvage title.
If you need a driver’s license in the state of Alabama, please be aware that you must be a resident, come to the DMV office with identifying documents, your Social Security card, and pay a fee.
Vision and written tests are conducted at DMV offices, where 15-year-old drivers can apply for a learner’s permit if they bring the required documents, including a certified birth certificate and proof of school enrolment.
Finally, Alabama participates in the graduated driver licensing (GDL) programme, which has three stages before a teen driver can obtain a full licence.
